Don't spam specials like Down-B/Up-B. Even though Kirby is a very forgiving beginner friendly character, overly relying on these specials promotes bad habits. Don't spam his specials.
-
Abuse Down Tilt. Learn to abuse crouch. Also abuse up tilt.
-
Weak hits of f-air combo into f-smash. Use f-air close to ground, land before strong hit, and then f-smash. There is also a Kirby tutorial I recommend checking out by Juggleboy on YT
-
Don't worry about falling; Instead play aggressive to wall characters with bad recovery.
-
Don't get desperate! If you don't have a neutral-B ability for a while, don't sweat it. If your opponent sees you trying to get their ability, they'll punish you hard.
-
Succ little mac and fall off stage. Works everytime
-
Abuse his combo game. At 0%, fthrow can lead to a fair, regrab, fthrow, dair, up tilt twice, then an air attack. Guaranteed 30-50% if executed correctly. Also, tilts are insanely good.
-
Kirbys biggest weakness is his range, especially against swordsmen. A trick to do decent damage while keeping yourself safe is to Up+Special
with the tip of your blade while your target is midair.
-
Watch the smashers Poyo and Komota. They are considered the 2 best Kirby players in the world.
-
Forward Tilt is almost always a better alternative to jab.
-
You can cheese a stock at low percents if you down-air more than once when the opponent is recovering. If your opponent doesn't die, do it again.
-
Inhale offstage is a great tool, but people will hate you for doing it. Works great on alot of bad recovery characters, or if kirby has all of his jumps, a back-air stage spike to kill slow recoveries
-
Heavies at 0% percent can get chain grabbed by forward throwing into fair and follow up with a grab into another fair or dair
-
Learn how to use the opponent’s neutral specials. Some neutral-b moves can be a powerful edition to your arsenal if you know how they work.
-
While one of the worst characters in the game as of this post (July 3 2019) Kirby still has some nice advantages.
Kirby has an excellent, edgeguard, and pressure game, but sadly that's about it.
-
Don’t follow up tilts with up airs until around the 40s-60s
-
At low percents, Downthrow - Fair is a true combo, and at mid percents, multiple fairs can combo into each other, so use this on poor recovery characters to carry them off stage.
-
Learning simple grabs and combos is key!
-
Avoid using Kirby's side-B, its good for punishing shield breaks, but outside of that it has trouble hitting skilled opponents.
-
You can suck the opposite player in and then jump off and you will both lose a stock. If you have one stock greater than him, this is very useful.
-
Don’t waste up and down throws if they won’t finish the stock, as they will get stale and deal less damage and knockback. Instead, use down throw to rack up damage.
-
Learn to turn around into up tilt to get the sweet spot.
-
Great Combo, Down Air to Up-Tilt to Up-Tilt again then Up Smash. Works at low percents.
-
Against sword characters, try to always keep close and shield to mess up their spacing, and punish with a grab combo, unless you're against Roy, which keeping a bit further is the better option
-
Try learning the up tilt - down aerial - down smash finisher combo. It will take you time but it’s really worth it, it sends your opponent at a pretty good angle and you get a free edgeguard
-
It is hard to pull of but if you hit the bottom of Kirby's n-air you can meteor smash them 90%-999%
-
Combo falling d-air onto floor then up-tilt into short hop down air into u-tilt and so on

-
Don't rush in: Kirby is best when you wait patiently for your opponent to make a mistake, otherwise you'll get thrown around
-
Don't underuse or overuse his side special, and make sure to not accidentally use his up special instead
-
Don't be afraid of spamming crouch when opponents repeatedly approach from the air, try to catch them with up-tilts as well.
-
Just be very cautious of all heavys since one hit is the end of you. Play a very cautious yet agressive playstyle. Take advantage of ALL of Kirbys jumps.
-
Don’t get caught up in his up b or is down b, keep trying to dodge attacks and don’t be afraid to run away sometimes cause Kirby can be slow sometimes.
-
Kirby can throw off some impressive combos while also making hard to punish. But has a hard time dealing with being pressured and doesn't have good approach options. Recovery isn't impressive either.
-
Try to use down special to intercept a juggle
-
First hit of fair confirms into f smash while the second hit confirms into f tilt. Dair has the worst frame data of his aerials. Up B doesn't clip to ledge immediately so try jumping or air dodging.
-
dont focus TOO much in the air. kirby's got a lot of jumps, but he's also light and will be punished if you run low on jumps and air dodge, HARD.
-
So suck someone up at the edge of the stage, then at the very bottom spit them out if they have a bad recovery, then fly up.
-
Never let Kirby get above u cause he can just use his brick
-
Kirby combo guide:1.Spam up tilt and then when you feel like Up Smash.2.Downair up tilt,Reapeat.Final smash combo: forward grabforward air,up speical, final smash
-
dash A is very broken when used well. Also, copying and then taunting to lose the copy is good for peoples natural B that you don't look or aren't good with
-
While in the air, try to fall by snapping to the ledge, and don't use all your jumps too early.
-
Learn to R E C O V E R. I see many beginners not know how to recover. Remember that kirby has a few jumps, and his up special cannot go horizontal. To go horizontal, use all your jumps, or air dodge.
-
What is a tilt because I'm only nine and a Kirby main and everyone is talking about tilts and I don't know what a tilt is.
-
Grab To Combos are very useful. Grab them, forward throw, and follow it up with an up air. Juggle with this.
-
Kirby's inhale is great for edge guarding as if you press a while their in your mouth it's will shoot the opponent back the higher the percentage the further away they go
-
Kirby can be very good but sometimes bad. Kirby has lots of combo potential because of his frame data and combo game, but pulling off a devastating combo is hard to do because of Kirby's range
-
Kirby’s best matchup is probably either ganon or incineroar, they don’t have great horizontal recoveries, and Kirby can F-throw, to multiple F-airs, putting both in a very touch position
-
Don't really to much on Kirby's down special it can only sustain a certain amount of damage.
-
Juggling is quite useful at low percentages, try using combos at the start of the game to gain advantage over your opponent
-
It’s good to use a b-attack for combat. For me the a-attack is something that I ignore to get good hits in. You should never waste time charging up the hammer since there’s a good chance to miss.
-
Kirby May Be Able To Take An Easy Stock with Kirbicide but you may have had an advantage and you just brought both damage to 0 and it can be anyones game.
-
The only helpful situation to use Down-B is edgeguarding King K. Rool through his propeller. Otherwise, well... good luck.
-
Abuse his combo game. At 0%, fthrow can lead to a fair, regrab, fthrow, dair, up tilt twice, then an air attack. Guaranteed 30-50% if executed correctly. Also, tilts are insanely good.
-
Use his down smash to 2 frame people. It comes out frame 7, has a very generous hitbox which even hits under the stage and stays out for a long time. It also hits at a very unforgiving angle.
-
What is a tilt cause I'm only nine and I'm a Kirby main and everyone is talking about tilts.
-
Get grabs on characters like bowser since they can’t really get out of those combos
-
Lead bad recovory characters with a puff and forward air.So easy to do it with kirby and get back to stage
-
What is a tilt because I'm only nine and a Kirby main and everyone is talking aboun
-
Kirby is really easy to master. Might be a good character to start as (It's also one of the first characters you unlock and is the first character you unlock in world of light.)
-
Don't suck, and use more Ariels, that's important
-
Spam special a lot because it is is so OP.
-
What is a tilt because I'm only nine and a Kirby main and everyone is talking about tilts.
P.S. sorry if this is a reapeat because after I put this here the first time and I can't see it.
-
When against sword characters play more defensively until you can know their playstyle.
-
Never use dair. Dair will lead to lag, and combos will ensue
-
Don’t inhale Pokémon inhale other smash characters.
-
The best thing to do with Kirby is to go off the ledge, you might think this is risky, but your opponent is going to go for a spike, make sure you have the advantage ,t them and pick a better character
-
Up B and Down B spam is good but predictable. Use areals and smash attacks once in a while
-
KIRBY IS A ***, USE THE DOWN A, THEN JUMP AND DOWN A, THE DOWN B IS USED AS A SHIELD

Don't be ****. Don't spam specials.
-
Unlike SSB4, Alot of kirby's copy abilities are pure garbage due to mechanic changes. Mario's is useless (1-frame jump to fireball is not as floaty) for example, but there are many others too.
-
Actually if you know what you’re doing spamming specials is good.
-
Suck that ****** **** and eat that *** good.
-
kirby is just plain annoying when you or someone else spams with it. players that spam with Kirby are just dumb. they try to act good but in reality there not. just play with more agile characters.
-
Find a different character to play.
