Ridley has an incredible offstage presence. Don't be afraid to jump off stage and throw a few nairs or fairs out.
-
Your tail is technically a disjoint. This means that it has no hurt box. You essentially have a sword tail. Because of this, Nair, Fair, Ftilt, Dtilt, and rapid jab all are disjointed in some ways.
-
Side b if done from off stage to the ledge can grab opponents and place them under the stage. This is extremely effective for a 0 to death kill on a greedy player. Be sure to not spam this.
-
Remember to make sure you don't Pirates Rush too much (side-B) as it contains a lot of endlag resulting in an easy punish. N-air is your friend.
-
It MUST be noted that Wing Blitz (Up B), when aimed forward, does NOT travel slightly downward. It is an illusion created by the move's animation, and it actually travels completely straight!
-
Ridley has moves that can cover multiple options at once. Up smash covers every tech option on low and small plats, Dsmash covers roll from ledge, get up attack and neutral getup. Use this well.
-
Down throw to skewer is not true. Don't use it unless your opponent has zero experience in the Ridley matchup.
-
While you can play aggressively and do okay, your best option generally is more on the defensive side. Play safely using down tilt and forward tilt to keep your opponent off of you
-
Utilize fireballs. They are more helpful than you think. Also, dthrow fair.
-
A recovery mixup is to use your up-b angled down, but release the stick once Ridley starts flying. Releasing the stick will allow Ridley to grab the ledge. This hitbox spikes
-
Nair is actually pretty good for catching teleport recoveries at ledge. Just hang by ledge when fighting Palu or Mewtwo and falldown nair when you feel they'll recover. Can also ensure a stage spike.
-
When playing on a stage with low platforms such as battlefield, remember up-smash pretty much covers the entire ****** thing. Incorporate a little platplay into your style and land free up-smashes.
-
Ridley has some good edge-guarding options. Aside from spamming Neutral-B, you can meteor smash foes with D-air and Up-B (if aiming downwards). Be careful if you’re using them off the stage, though!
-
Ridleys leg during upsmash has invulnerability during certain frames, making it an effective anti-air move.
-
Ridley's down-b is already a pretty bad move, but especially against anyone with a counterattack (Lucario, FE chars, etc).
A counterattack multiplier against Ridley's down-b can easily KO him at 0%.
-
You can easily get 40% by well timed nairs and fairs don't forget your bair can kill and damage just by timing it just right
-
Edge guarding using fireballs (neutral-B) can be effective with good spacing and timing, and can be an easy gimp especially against weak recoveries.
-
Chroms Soaring Slash (up special) has no hitbox while rising. You can perform a rapid jab at the ledge as an effective wall against him.
-
Down-throw is a combo throw at low percents and a kill throw at super high percents. Use it at around 0-30% (depends on the character) and at 180+% (again, varies by character)
-
When using Up Special, note that it cannot perform the same way as Fox's. Facing forwards and right direction results in a slightly downwards thrust, backwards and left results in slightly up thrust
-
To add a little variety in your recovery, save your second jump for until you are within up-b range. With your second jump, turn around and use backwards up-b. Nice range and a large hitbox.
-
Ridley has a 0-death that no one knows about, the combo imputes r
D throw + instant fair + fair + fair , then u can just up b to the side to recover, I’ll submit more tips bye 👋
-
If your opponent is being aggressive, and doesn't have a reflector(or an absorbing type move), neutral special will make them back off.
-
Ridley has two universal strings that work at low % on the entire cast for an easy 0-death. Triplat>U throw to top plat>Skewer (land on plat)>Dsmash. And: D>fair>dj fair>dj fair at ledge hint: COMMIT
-
Ridley actually does do decent vs PIkachu, he still wins but its Even or +0.5 for pika. Ridley has alot that can trip pika up, such as his long range, to hit before he gets there.
-
A missed tech from your opponent on small platforms can lead to upsmash or Aerial Space Pirate Rush.
-
Recovering directly onstage into edge-guarding players can catch them off guard as they'd expect you to go for the ledge.
-
Landing with up b is a decent mixup if people dont know the matchup. It can go through plats and a lot of people arent aware of that
-
His dair has a very tiny hitbox and has too much endlag to be safe offstage. Don't use it.
-
Use fireballs as pressure to then charge in or use side b to get good damage in
-
Ridley is great in flat stages such as Green Hill Zone or Super Mario Bros. If you cancel your space pirate rush near the edge of the stage, and don't go off yourself, it is a very effective kill.
-
Du musst Ridleys Schwanz in dein Loch stecken. Damit du viel Spaß hast !!!
-
Use Ridley's long neck for something good and suck my **** ***
-
Side B .
-
ballshit this is pure ballshit. trashhhhhhhhh
-
Don't play Ridley. Ridley is trash dragon.
