With good timing, Mario's Cape can prevent several characters from recovering onto the stage, as an effective edge-guarding tool.
-
FLUDD is effective against Simon / Richter, Little Mac, Chrom, Ike, Cloud, Lucas and Ness Up-B recoveries, be sure to save a fully charged blast against these opponents.
-
You can go in with a fireball to force to opponent to shield and then grab, but make sure you mix up your approaches.
-
Mario isn't very effective against most swordfighters, because they outrange him. But, if you're good enough with him, you may be able to edge-guard them.
-
Use F.L.U.D.D while the enemy is landing looking for an aerial and you can get a nice punish, they never expect it.
-
Mario can duck briefly beneath some character's projectile attacks, such as Wolf, Falco and Fox, at the start of his crouched animation state.
-
Up throw into dair is a nice combo at low percents.
-
Use the Cape to mix up your landing
-
Hit Up-Smash when facing away from the opponent. It hits the opponent faster than facing towards.
-
Mario can still combo some characters from down throw to up-tilt at low percents. Inkling is one example.
-
Mario has devastating Up-Air combos that can be started with many of his moves e.g. (Up+Down Tilt, Up+Down throw). End with a Up-special to potentially kill via the top blastzone.
-
Down-throw to up-tilt still works on large, heavy characters reliably.
-
U-air is one of, if not, Mario’s best move, it can chain into itself, is an excellent combo starter, and ladder combos to the blast zone. Not to mention Up-Special can chain into it too.
-
FORWARD (and I cannot stress this enough) AERIAL
-
D-Tilt is not only useful for starting combos, but also good to continue then before another aerial to keep your assault
-
Do not try to side b ken or ryu when they are on the ground. They will turn around right away.
-
If ur opponent is holding ledge you can run off and use cape in the direction of the ledge to instantly cape trump. Cape trumping is also useful for a recovery mixup
-
Use his Forward Aerial a lot if uou trying to get a clip
-
yeet them off stage with a dash attack or a back throw and show them who the nintendo boss is by dunking them
-
Use FLUDD when your opponent is short hopping and throwing out aerials! It’ll push ‘em to ledge, giving you the whole stage, and putting your opponent in a ledge-trapping situation.
-
Mario bair and dair are very good at crossing up beh shields. Use that to ur advantage to avoid characters fishing for grabs or smash attacks oos. Be careful tho as many characters can punish u for it
-
Bair and full hop fireball are fantastic ways to approach.
-
Dark wizzy.
-
Foward throw or Back throw and then spike them, works everytime up to 4,500,000 GSP, it can even work at higher GSP as long as you see if they jump everytime offstage, usually done at 5-40%
-
Forward air is a risk. You could take urself with ur opponents. Or self destruct if u fall down too fast. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS MOVE
-
Cape can be a good tool to ledge-trap with for recoveries who don't produce a hitbox, such as Joker (without arsene).
-
You can Ledge Trump with turn around side b on ledge:D
-
Make sure to get underneath the platform your opponent is on and hit them with up+special.
-
Up air is a great combo starter, and if you really want to main this character I recommend learning how to fully utilize his aerials, or at leas learning some good combos
-
My Tip For Mario Is To Have Some Kill Confirms Like Jab Lock Combos Or Edgegaurding
-
double up smash is true on most heavy to mid weights at 0% use it if you can
-
While mario's recovery is good it's super wise to mix it up sometimes by going above ledge to avoid potential gimps or edgeguards that can lead to you losing a stock
-
F.L.U.D.D. Is about your best tool against sword characters. Chrom, ike, roy, cloud and even shulk. as soon as they try to recover with thier up b use it. Then charge it up again.
-
Falling up air into forward air is a true combo on most characters at 70
-
Mario is a great character
Shoot a fireball while jumping and follow up with a dash attack and Fair it is an easy 0 to death combo
-
On battlefield start a match with a fireball and it usually hits the opponent and stuns them which then allows you to go in with a forward air knocking them up and becoming a possible combo starter.
-
At 0%, forward throw to dash attack is true against everyone.
-

-
Mario's Moves Come Out So Fast He Can Perform Crazy Combos Try To Di Out Of Them If You Can
-
Mario is red. This fighter wears a hat, similar to Terry and Ness. If this fighter hits you, you take damage unless it it FLUDD. Mario is also from the Mario series.
