Counter Tips

Don't hit his shield at all. G&W ***** on badly-spaced aerials and puff doesn't have good enough disjoints to stay out of range. Dash attack is a no-no.

Punish his down-air. It's -17, you have enough time to get a few hits in, or even a drill rest.

Don't try to edgeguard G&W, even if it's very tempting. His up-b is invincible frames 5 to 13, with a hitbox frames 3 to 4 and another one frames 9 to 18. G&W WILL stage-spike you into the abyss.
